To improve students' ability to critique, debate and discuss art To create understanding of the need for good grammar and diction when writing and speaking academically To encourage students to look for ways of improving their language skills using extracurricular reading To encourage an understanding that students should regard language as an important consideration in their careers Study outcomeKnowledge: How to better use English in art-related discussion, applied through writing and speaking, and also by assessed reading and listening comprehension. Measured through a final exam devised by teacher.
Skills: Can use English as part of EKA degree course in measurably more effective way. Attitudes: A more open attitude towards language learning including various kinds of reading, viewing and listening, and an encouragement of students to look at how they could vary and improve the language used in assessed work. Super-speciality skills: Creativity, problem-solving skills, improvisation, time management, leadership, self-confidence through expression. Study activitiesTwelve group lessons (seminars).
