Aim

- provision of basic academic education in the field of textile;
- preparation of specialists with professional skills and diverse knowledge who are capable, while working independently or in a team, to perform tasks creatively and professionally;
- to develop in learners the skills of independent learning and self-improvement;
- to provide knowledge of the contemporary trends of the society and to ensure the learner’s openness to innovation;
- to create a comprehensive understanding of the role of art and design in society;
- to ensure that the learner has completed the curriculum and has sufficient competence to continue studies in a Master's program;
- to ensure openness of the curriculum to changes and developments in the modern dynamic and rapidly changing world on the basis of international standards of higher education.

Learning outcomes

Graduated student: - applies diverse disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to work as a professional textile designer, both independently and in a team; - works together with other professionals; - utilizes specialized practical skills to work in a textile company, or if desired, to establish own independent company; - puts the basic knowledge of philosophy, aesthetics, art and culture, history, applied art and design, history and business into the practice of the specialty, when necessary; - applies artistic expression skills to support the specialty’s creative approach, while achieving workable skills of drawing, painting, composition, form and computer programs; - deals with problems in a wider professional context with an understanding of their role in society and possible employment in the fields of art and design; - uses professional terminology correctly in both oral and written language; - uses their own professional work for the needed technical tools and computer programs.

Structure

The study programme consists of general theoretical subjects (21 ECTS), joint design subjects (63 ECTS), speciality subjects (51 ECTS), elective projects (30 ECTS), practices (9 ECTS) and portfolio (6 ECTS).

Graduation conditions

The curriculum has been fully completed, if the student has passed the mandatory courses provided in the curriculum and complied with the other requirements of the curriculum, and has defended the Bachelor’s thesis or portfolio (depending on the provisions of the curriculum).
